Isted Grill is a late-night Danish institution on Istedgade, from humble hole-in-the-wall eateries to more polished establishments, where classic flæskestegssandwich and other familiar street-food favourites are served in a simple, no-fuss setting. The sandwich itself is wonderfully uncomplicated: a sesame bun is filled with slices of roast pork and crisp crackling, pickles and red cabbage. At Isted Grill, the pork is fried on both sides before being dressed with condiments and tucked into a deliciously toasted bun. Traditionally, the experience is completed with a bottle of chocolate milk.
