Good Morning Nanyang Cafe

Cafe

Tucked behind Hong Lim Green Community Centre and overlooking the open मैदान of Hong Lim Park, Good Morning Nanyang Café sits modestly in the shadow of the sleek Pan Pacific Singapore across the road. Despite its unassuming location, this charming café has earned international recognition, even being named one of Time Magazine’s 24 Best Kept Secrets in the World.

Helmed by the warm and passionate Byron, the café is celebrated for its old-school kopi and teh — brewed from tea leaves rather than tea bags — resulting in a brew that’s extra thick, aromatic, and robust. Pair it with a classic Singaporean breakfast of half-boiled eggs and kaya toast for the full experience.

What truly sets the café apart is its distinctive ciabatta kaya toast. Unlike the thin slices typical of most kopi joints, the airy ciabatta here is thick-cut and lightly toasted, slathered generously with Byron’s house-made kaya crafted from coconut milk, pandan leaves, and plenty of eggs. The standout Orange Peel Ciabatta Toast features fragrant bits of orange peel folded into the bread, adding a subtle citrusy lift. Crisp on the outside and layered with creamy butter and luscious kaya within, it’s a delightful twist on a beloved local staple.
