Sin Ming Roti Prata

Asian Cuisine

Sin Ming Roti Prata near Upper Thomson is a long-time local favourite, quietly holding its own from a modest corner within Jin Fa kopitiam. Run by father-and-son duo Aziz and Faisal, it’s one of those rare spots where both the prata and the curries shine, earning a loyal following over the years.

The menu spans everything from stuffed prata variations and murtabak to briyani, mee goreng, nasi goreng and hearty curries like fish curry, masala chicken and sambal udang. With countless prata permutations available, the Plain ($1.20) and Egg ($1.80) remain the benchmarks — crisp on the outside, yet fluffy and slightly chewy within.

Made the traditional way without ghee or milk — just flour, egg, sugar and salt — the dough is stretched and griddled to perfection. Tear off a piece and dunk it into their robust fish curry for the full experience. Some prefer it with sugar, but savoury, dipped generously in curry, is hard to beat.
