Wong Ah Wah

Chinese Cuisine

Once notorious as Kuala Lumpur’s red light district, Jalan Alor is now a food haven casually known as “Wai Sek Kai,” which, in Cantonese, means “Glutton Road.” At the entrance to Jalan Alor, this famous Asian roast chicken eatery marinates big, fat wings in soy sauce, honey, white pepper, garlic, ginger and spring onion. Then the wings are spun on skewers at high speed over flaming coals. The resulting honey-charred skin can barely contain the juicy, bursting chicken meat within. Fans pack the house to dip them in the lip-smacking spicy chilli sauce. No wonder Wong Ah Wah is a must-visit zi char institution.
