Ramen Shop
Just a short walk from Musashi-Sakai Station on the Chuo Line, Chinchintei stands out with its yellow-and-red striped awning. Revered as the birthplace of abura soba — ramen served without broth — the shop has been dishing out the same straightforward menu since 1965, drawing a steady stream of loyal customers.
Its signature abura soba (¥800) appears deceptively simple: medium-thick noodles topped with menma bamboo shoots, chashu pork, and naruto fish cake. Hidden at the bottom of the bowl is a rich, savoury sauce packed with meaty depth, designed to be thoroughly mixed with the noodles before eating.
Each table is stocked with house-made chilli oil and vinegar, encouraging diners to tailor the flavours to their liking. Extra toppings such as raw egg (¥50), seasoned egg (¥100), and spring onions (¥150) are also available. For ramen enthusiasts, this legendary “holy site” is a must-visit.
