Street Food
Xiao Tan Douhua is a beloved Sichuan snack shop known for turning out classic small plates you’ll also spot in more traditional restaurants—think red-oil dumplings and dan dan noodles. Its signature, however, is ultra-soft douhua (tofu pudding), served in both sweet and savoury broths or added to noodle dishes for silky contrast.
The food is unapologetically simple: plenty of starch and chilli oil, a generous hit of MSG, silken tofu in lightly thickened broths, and a parade of punchy toppings. You’ll find Sichuan snack staples like sweet water noodles, clock dumplings, red-oil chaoshou, mung bean jelly, and steamed beef fragrant with tongue-tingling peppercorn.
