Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant

Traditional Eatery

The old town of Shanghai is known as Yu Garden, and amidst the chaos, commotion, and onslaught of knick-knack salesmen, is the world’s most famous dumpling shop. Established in 1900, this culinary icon at Shanghai’s Cheng Huang Temple even has its own signpost to guide you to the long line of people queued at the take-away window on the side of the restaurant. The skins are a bit thicker and there is less soup than in dumplings elsewhere on this list. But if you are in the market, you really should try these lovely specimens. The Roe Buns are filled with pork, minced crab meat and roe.
