The first Shanghai outpost of Beijing’s acclaimed roast duck specialist, Shengyongxing, brings its exacting standards to the city with theatrical flair. Each duck arrives with its own identification card, detailing provenance and quality metrics before being expertly carved in front of diners. Guests can order it by the portion or whole, or elevate the experience with a decadent caviar-topped version.
Beyond its signature bird, the menu explores contemporary Chinese fine dining, spotlighting luxury ingredients such as abalone, Wagyu beef and sea cucumber, alongside refined takes on Beijing classics including gongbao chicken and zha jiang mian.
The dining room embraces modern minimalist Chinese design with sweeping views across the river to Lujiazui. An extensive wine list, curated by Meiyu Li — former winner of China’s Best Sommelier Competition — complements the menu, with pairing recommendations printed in both Chinese and English. Service is conducted in Chinese.
