Priceless artifacts are spread over two floors in three connected townhouses. From the world’s largest collection of clay pipes owned by such luminaries as Theodore Roosevelt, Babe Ruth, Liza Minnelli, Enrico Caruso and Gen. Douglas MacArthur, to the theater program Abraham Lincoln was holding when he was assassinated in 1865 and a handwritten copy of the Gettysburg Address, history abounds at this landmark chophouse. Women are welcome at this once-gentleman-only restaurant, where Lillie Langtry, a mistress of the King of England, took a stand for women’s rights when she sued to be served in 1905. This meat mecca is legendary for its mutton chop. The mutton is cross-cut from the saddle so each chop has both loin and tenderloin on the bone. Accompanied by Yukon mash and vegetables.
