An increasing number of restaurants has opened in the area, serving cuisines ranging from Mexican to Asian and bringing versions of high-end urban dining meccas to the area.
Bostwick's Chowder House
Bostwick's Chowder House offers the true Hamptons summertime dining experience. And if paper plates and a sometimes hour-long wait aren’t issues, the popular East Hampton spot has some of the area’s best seafood. Dine indoors among its seaside-inspired decor, outdoors on the casual patio with market umbrellas or order to go and enjoy your meal at home or the beach. Daily blackboard specials showcase the freshest catch from local fishermen, while menu options range from steamer and fried oysters with remoulade sauce to broiled local flounder, fish tacos, corn chowder, New England-style clam chowder, whole steamed lobsters and their famous lobster salad roll: a mildly seasoned production that packs plenty of lobster meat and butter.
Clam Bar
The restaurant Clam Bar, run by Patrick McCormack and Chef Brian Mazzio, is a seafood lover’s dream. They offer in their menu splendid Lobster Rolls full of fresh, succulent, sweet lobster meat piled up in between soft buns drenched in butter. The roll is perfectly seasoned and full of flavors.
Duryea's Lobster Deck
One of the most picturesque spots on the East End, this waterfront place was updated when billionaire Marc Rowan took over in 2016. But the iconic 1,400-square-foot lobster deck, and the auxiliary buildings to run the wholesale lobster and ice operation remain. Most dishes, like a full clam bake, lobster Cobb salad and market fish, are served family-style. Fans rave about the lobster rolls, fresh catch and spectacular sunsets on the deck overlooking Fort Pond Bay. The BYOB landmark is seriously casual. Order at the counter. Cash only.
La Fondita
La Fondita is a popular restaurant in East Hampton serving best Mexican Food. It offers excellent fish tacos made of freshly battered fish deep-fried in oil and placed on fresh handmade tortillas which are then garnished with shredded cabbage and perfectly seasoned.
Lobster Roll
Lobster Roll is a little shack like restaurant offering wonderful fresh seafood at an amazingly reasonable price. It serves its very famous Fried Puffer Fish which is deep fried battered fish. These crispy, crunchy fish are served with vinegar and tartar sauce and is a great combo of tart and refreshing flavors.
Rowdy Hall
Rowdy Hall is a great place to grab a beer and a burger, the fireplace roars in the winter, and the courtyard sings in the warmer months. It is famous for its Rowdy Burger which is simple but superbly delicious. It is a beautiful combination of Black Angus, all natural American, swiss, cheddar or blue cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion or fried onion served with hand-cut French fries and a pickle.
Scarpetta Beach
Glass doors and walls afford a spectacular ocean view at this Montauk offshoot of the New York Italian restaurant first launched in New York’s Meatpacking District. The restaurant’s name is derived from the Italian expression “fare la scarpetta,” the pleasure of savoring a meal to its last bite. Fans pack the airy dining room and patio for sophisticated Italian fare. A crudo menu includes options like local fluke with roasted sunchokes, citrus and black salt. Popular pasta choices include short rib and bone marrow agnolotti and the restaurant’s famed spaghetti with tomato sauce. Entrée selections run the gamut from seared scallops with corn, tomatoes and morel mushrooms to lavender-glazed duck on fennel and potato puree topped with caramelized peaches and citrus.
The Seafood Shop
The Seafood Shop has been in business for the last 30 years. Fresh, local catch is brought in the back door, filleted, steaked or left whole and then displayed in the front of the house for purchase. The menu here is small and serves wonderfully fresh fish and chips, the best in East Hampton.
Villa
The God Father is a signature sandwich of Villa. It is a perfect combination of prosciutto di parma, genoa salami, cappicolo, soppresatta, mortadella, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, and pepperchini drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar on a jumbo Italian hero. This sandwich is good for two people and is incredibly delicious.
