The Best Restaurants in SORRENTO
Sorrento, a laid-back, seaside town set on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples in southern Italy, is a popular tourist destination. Surrounded by some of Italy's more popular tourist destinations -- Naples and Pompeii to the north; the island of Capri just offshore; Positano and the famed Amalfi Coast to the east, Sorrento’s Old World charm remains intact. Scented by lemon groves and olive vines, it’s a maze of beautiful, cobbled backstreets and an assortment of quaint shops. Grab a limoncello, a lemon aperitif. You can also find scented honeys, olive oils and fabulous Italian desserts.
Pizza A Metro Da Gigino L'Università della Pizza
Vico, Italy, is well known for its “pizza a metro” or pizza cut by the meter, which was created by Gigino Dell'Amura in the 1930s at Pizza A Metro Da Gigino. Still going strong, the restaurant has taken on the nickname "Università della Pizza," thanks to the quality ingredients used and variety of flavors offered, all prepared rigorously by hand. Run by Dell’Amura’s five sons, this barn-like pizzeria produces kilometers of pizza each day in three huge ovens. Although it seats around 200, you may still have to wait for a table. No reservations are taken.
