This iconic sandwich has been attributed to both the North (Galicia) and the South (Andalucia) but what is certain is that it has been adopted by Madrid as the preferred hunger killer for students and workers. The go-to spot is La Campana which has been open since 1870 and has the tapa painted on its window. All the ingredients are prepared, baked, and fried fresh daily. Most photos show the treat served plain but we think this sandwich pops when you drizzle La Campana's homemade brava sauce on top. This is also one of the few places serving in the morning for those with extreme hunger or hangover.
