Bakery on O'Connell is an institution in Adelaide, an award-winning 24/7 SA owned bakery and home of SA's famed Pie Floater. Our state's most iconic food, the Pie Floater is recognized as a South Australian Heritage Icon by the National Trust of Australia. I stuck with the basics and got the original, a traditional meat pie with tomato sauce. The meat pie was turned upside down and submerged in a pool of green pea soup. The tomato sauce added an extra layer of sweetness and punch and the peas were seasoned well. The hidden pie was tasty with a piping hot center of meat filling. The bakery is busy around the clock and pumps out more than 200 products on-site throughout the day, so you're always guaranteed freshly baked goodies.
